Sights to See: California Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush began when James Marshall and Johann Sutter found gold in Northern California. They tried to keep to gold a secret, but word spread and by May 1848, everyone in San Francisco knew about the gold. People from all over America moved to California to find gold. People even came from China and Indian to find gold. $10 million in gold was found in 1948 alone. Unfortunately, by 1851, people could no longer find gold just by looking in stream beds. The California Gold Rush was over.

Today I was minding my own business, when I made an amazing discovery. I was working like I do everyday under the employment of Johann Sutter, when I found gold! It so amazing! This could be the start of an entire movement or gold rush! Sutter said we should try to keep it secret, so I will try my best not to brag to any of the guys. Well, I have to go try to find some more gold. Yee-haw!

Something exciting happened today! One of my employees was deepening the channel going into my mill when he discovered gold! I am going to be so rich! I have told my employee, James Marshall, not to tell anyone of his discovery. I am eager to get back out there and try to find more gold! I am convinced that there is more gold out there with my name on it. This time next year, I plan on having my own mansion complete with ornamentation.
